Winemaking Philosophy
At City Winery, great wines begin in the vineyard.
We carefully select our growers and vineyard blocks, building lasting partnerships to ensure consistency and capture each site’s unique character. This commitment allows us to craft wines that reflect their origins and improve with every vintage—95% of our 2024 growers have been with us for over 15 years, half since our first vintage in 2008.
Our winemaking approach is minimal intervention, letting the fruit speak for itself. We harvest at the perfect moment, allowing the wines to develop naturally with minimal handling. Fermentations rely on native yeasts, with limited new oak to preserve purity. We use sulfites sparingly—50% lower than the industry standard—and most wines are unfined and unfiltered, making them naturally vegan.

We take great pride in sourcing our grapes from some of the world's best-regarded vineyards, including Cabernet Sauvignon from Bettinelli in the Napa Valley or Sagemoor Vineyard in the Columbia Valley, Pinot Noir from Hyland Vineyards in the Willamette Valley, Chardonnay from Tula Vista Vineyard in Sonoma, Riesling from Uva Blancas in the Finger Lakes, and Malbec from the esteemed Catena Vineyards in Mendoza.

Several of our managers began their journeys in entry-level positions or internships and have since evolved within the company.
