About:

Aztec Two-Step burst on the scene in 1972 with their self-titled debut album on Elektra Records. This and their three subsequent albums for RCA Records made the band staples of progressive FM radio and college radio, helping to usher in the folk-rock music of the 60’s into the 1970s and beyond. Rex Fowler, along with his partner Neal Shulman, spent a lifetime making music together. However, after 47 years of recording and non-stop touring, Neal has retired. In this new era, Rex continues the legacy of Aztec Two-Step (“Aztec Two-Step 2.0”) as he introduces the members of his new ensemble:

On electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards and vocals is Dodie Pettit, a former successful songwriter and recording artist as well a prima ballerina. Dodie's career highlights also include a 15-year career on Broadway as an original cast member of The Phantom of the Opera, plus two other Tony Award winning musicals, CATS and Titanic. Dodie was also a session player on ATS’s album “Time of Our Lives” (1980).

Featured on upright bass, blues harmonica and vocals is Steven “Muddy” Roues, whose distinguished 40-year career in music includes appearances with B.B. King, Bo Diddley, Howling Wolf, James Cotton, Sam and Dave, The Chambers Brothers and Wilson Picket among others; and as a band member in the critically acclaimed documentary film, “The Other Side of Nashville” featuring Carl Perkins, John Lee Hooker and Luther Allison.

With Rex’s band banter and stage patter still as warm, fun and engaging as ever, he leads the new ensemble in Aztec Two-Step fan favorites (including some of those penned by Neal, of course!), and forgotten gems. The group has been touring with the ATS catalog to standing ovations and rousing reviews.
