What do Tony and two time Grammy Award winner Jennifer Holliday, Grammy Award winner Gloria Gaynor, Jazz Icon Phil Perry, R&B star Bobby V, and Pop Phenom Justin Bieber all have in common? They’ve been fortunate to have worked with soulful songstress Latrese Bush. Her melodic vocal range has supported these and many other musical greats! When she’s not traveling the world with Gloria Gaynor performing the iconic hit “I Will Survive”, Latrese can be found singing at various venues, songwriting and making music.
Latrese teamed up with Grammy Nominated songwriter Alvin Garrett to co-write “Walk It Out” by gospel group Virtue. She recently lent her mezzo-soprano to the legendary funk group The BarKays for their soulful R&B ballad “Up and Down”. She can also be heard as a featured vocalist on jazz keyboardists Justin Gilbert’s “Big Shine” from his debut album release “Aligned”, and Bob Baldwin’s single “Turn The Club Up” from his album “Twenty” , and trumpeter Joey Sommerville’s albums “Ride To This”, “Like You Mean It” and “The Get Down Club”. Her latest releases, “Because of You,” featuring soul star, Noel Gourdin, and “Love I Can Sing About” written by Grammy Nominated Alvin Garrett and R&B star Ruben Studdard has topped the UK Soul Chart and are sure to be anthems for lovers across the globe.
Anissa "Twinky" Hargrove is a native Washingtonian “born to perform.” Her love for singing developed at the age of 6. She comes from a long line of performers and entertainers. Anissa recently performed in front of two “sold out” shows for the debut of her first CD, "Still I Rise" at the renowned Blues Alley in Washington, DC. The CD is available on all digital outlets and her smash hit song, Crazy is in heavy rotation on the World’s Largest Adult Contemporary Radio Station, WHUR 96.3 FM, Sirius XM Heart and Soul, Music Choice and other stations across the country. She recently won a Wammie Award for 2016 Best Urban Adult Contempary Recording for the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). Anissa is currently a background vocalist for the Multi-Grammy winner and Queen of Disco, Gloria Gaynor and Shirley Jones of the Jones Girls. She sang background for artists such as Chante Moore, Miki Howard, Stacey Lattisaw, Patti LaBelle, Jean Carn, The Delfonics, Jerry “The Iceman” Butler, Christopher Williams, and Tonya Blount just to name a few. She has also toured with the Mighty Ojay’s, The Stylistics, Harold Melvin’s Bluenotes and more. Other performances include Howard Hewitt, Jaheim, Ginuwine, Bloodstone, Peaches and Herb, Evelyn Champagne King, Heatwave and many others.
At the age of 14, under the direction of a former member, George Parker of the group “Special Delivery” known for their hit song “I Destroyed Your Love”, Anissa and her group did a remake of the song. The group also recorded a 12 in’ single and radio jingle featuring Michael Jordan. The jingle was used to promote the very first “Air Jordan” tennis shoe for Nike.
When it comes to performing, originals or covers, Anissa pours her heart into each note she sings touching each soul! “Music you can feel” has often been described after attending one of her performances.
