Frank McComb
City Winery Washington DC presents a Donny Hathaway tribute show by jazz pianist and vocalist Frank McComb on Tuesday May 24 at 7:30 PM. World-renowned for his beautiful vocals, piano play, and classics like “A Song for You,” Frank McComb brings the iconic gospel soul music of Donny Hathaway to an intimate sound stage.
Frank has worked with many music giants: Prince, Branford Marsalis, George Duke, Patrice Rushen, The Rude Boys, Phil Perry, Fred Hammond, John P. Kee, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, D.J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (Will Smith), Frankie Beverly & Maze, Teena Marie, Terri Lynn Carrington, Phyllis Hyman, Valerie Simpson, and Philip Bailey to name a few.
After signing to Motown’s jazz label “MoJazz,” Frank lent his voice to the Buckshot LeFonque (Featuring Branford Marsalis) hit song “Another Day”. This performance landed him a deal with Columbia Records in 1998 where he would record and release his debut CD “Love Stories” in 2000. In 2003, Frank signed with Malibu Sessions and released his 2nd CD “The Truth Vol.1”. In 2004, Frank decided to release his music independently. His 3rd CD, “Straight From The Vault'', an entirely self-written, self-produced and self-recorded CD, won him the “SoulTracks Readers Choice Award” for “Best Album of the Year” and in 2005 earned him a spotlight with Jill Scott in Oprah Winfrey’s highly respected “O Magazine” as one of Ms. Scott's favorite CD's.
“Straight From The Vault '' was followed by twelve album releases between 2006 and 2017 under Frank’s own Boobeescoot Music label. Frank McComb was recently honored by Music Radar as the 27th greatest keyboard player of all time and has a new single coming to radio soon - "I Gotta Pinch Myself" by Frank McComb and Kathy Kosins (featuring Najee).
Tickets $30 / Day of $35
