City Winery Washington DC presents alternative rock pioneer Kristin Hersh live in concert on Thursday June 2 at 7:30 PM. Songwriter, guitarist and singer Kristin Hersh formed the alt rock band Throwing Muses at age 14 with her stepsister Tanya Donelly. Still the frontwoman for the groundbreaking band, Throwing Muses paved the way for more collaborative work with band 50FOOTWAVE, a strong solo career and over 20 albums altogether.Also an accomplished author, Hersh pushed boundaries in releasing her solo album “Crooked” as a book – a first for a major recording artist – with full-color photos, lyrics, essays, and exclusive online content. Her acclaimed memoir “Rat Girl" based on her teenage diary was named one of the Greatest Rock Memoirs of All Time by Rolling Stone. In 2021 she released her newest book, "Seeing Sideways."
Bringing her strong vocals, power guitar and pervasive artistry to City Winery, Kristin Hersh cements her spot as an alt rock icon.
