Eric A. Bellinger, Jr. was born in Los Angeles (California) in 1986 and is a singer, songwriter, and record producer. His musical style's best described as a blend of rhythm and blues (a genre of pop music - originating in the African-American communities in the 1940s - featuring bands usually consisting of piano, one or two guitars, bass, drums, one or more saxophones, and sometimes background vocalists, along with lyrical themes of relationships, economics, aspirations, sex, and the African-American experience of pain and the quest for freedom and joy), contemporary R&B (a genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, hip hop, and dance), soul (a genre - emerging from African-American community in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s - that combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz), and pop. He’s had a stellar career with 6 studio albums (one of which hit number 23 and number 15 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top R&B Albums charts respectively), 2 extended plays, 6 mix tapes, 1 single, and a Grammy Award (for Best R&B Album).
