When Bowie & Bolan went strollin.....
A Crash Course For The Ravers ......When Glam ruled The UK
In March 1970, when T.Rex performed 'Hot Love' on Top Of The Pops,  with the stunningly adrogynous & beautiful Bolan wearing glitter on his cheeks, the people were hooked- on the looks, the cheeky, gender blurring make-up, the primal 1950's R&R sound, the glorious, escapist excitement of it all..
 & Glam was born...
A gorgeous, colourful, cultural sensation full of outrageous theatricality, Glam was the perfect antidote to a  dreary B&W Britain full of burnt out hippies & economic hardships.
Bowie's magical & iconic 'Starman' appearance on Top Of The Pops a year later cemented the style & subversion, & set Glam further on it's way, creating a musical  genre whose  cultural significance is still felt today.
Glam ruled The UK music & fashion  scene in the first half of the 70's with Bolan & Bowie's sound & vision giving birth to dozens of New Glam Groups , all of whom will be celebrated at this extraordinary concert..
There was no escaping Glam, and no wanting to. Every release was a glammish joy, a  Chart Topper, every child a glitter loving ,screaming teenybopper.
CUM ON FEEL THE NOISE
From ZIGGY & THE SLIDER came..
Roof raising Northern Lads  Slade got the terraces jumping with anthemic singalongs--There was Sweet & Sparks, Suzi Quatro & Wizzard, Roxy Music, Mott The Hoople, & other likely lads  caught up in the madness...David Essex, Mud, SAHB, Alvin Stardust.....Everyone was 'in'. Dressed the part. Looked the biz.
One UK hit single after another, as Dickensian tophats , platform boots, boas & hook laden choruses took over the nation.. 'Ballroom Blitz', 'All The Young Dudes', 'Mama Were All Crazee Now, 'Virginia Plain'  , 'Tiger Feet' , 'This Town Aint Big Enough for The Both Of Us',  'See My Baby Jive'...
NYC glitterati will perform all these classics at The extravaganza
The concert will also take a walk on the wilder side of Glam with trips into the tell tale hearts, smudged mascara, & glorious decadence of  American Glam with Alice Cooper, The NY Dolls & Lou Reed.
XMAS KICK-OFF.. ... 45th Anniversary of 'MERRY XMAS EVERYBODY' !

GLAM was always the perfect Christmas soundtrack--The glitter & boas, the tinsel strewn drama & beyond high camp, were made for the season..  & the hit singles released by Glam Stars at Christmas incl: " I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day" by Roy Wood & Wizzard, & easily the UK's biggest Holiday Hit ever ,  Slade's almighty evergreen, the insanely raucous "Merry Xmas Everybody"

Released on this week, 45 years ago, & still delivering goodwill to all ! (The song has been re released each xmas since 1973, entering straight at No 1 in UK charts)
Calling all the Young Dudes,Jean Genies & 20th Century Boys & Girls....Bring out your mirrored tophats, dust off your platform boots, & get thy glitter strewn faces to the Celebration
'Wham Bam, Thankyou GLAM'

Glam. Ridiculously Sublime
