Charles Hunter General ManagerCharles Hunter began his journey in the restaurant industry at the young age of seventeen. It was during his early years, starting as a cater waiter at Terrace on the Park in Flushing–Meadows Queens that the seed was first planted and his love for cooking and bringing memorable experiences to patrons, began to blossom. From there he went on to fulfill the position of maître d with Dante’s Catering. After attending Hunter College, Charles found himself working on Wall Street but after a few short years, responded to his desire and made his way back to the restaurant industry. Barbara Smith sought Charles out for the opening of B. Smith’s Sag Harbor. After running Sag Harbor for a few years, Charles went on to open the Restaurant Row location of B. Smith’s. Over the years, Charles has gone on to lead several establishments in the capacity of General Manager / Managing Partner. Although Charles believes in giving his Chef the room to flourish, he remains passionate about cooking and continues to do so on a regular basis, in his free time. Completely immersed in the work of creating a great experience, Charles values the opportunity to be able to step back and witness the positive affect his work and contributions has on the guests at his table.
Becky O'NeillEvent Sales Manager
Becky O’Neill was born and raised in Massachusetts. Since graduating with a Bachelor’s in Business Hospitality and Special Event Management, she has been circulating the Boston special events scene. Becky’s love of events began in high school through planning social events with friends, fundraisers for the local community, and her need for a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
In her spare time, Becky enjoys cuddling with puppies, spending time with her big Irish family, and watching FRIENDS on repeat. You can find her at Gillette cheering on her favorite team, GO PATS, or in the grandstands at Fenway hoping to catch a fly ball.
Brianna ApruzzeseEvent Sales Manager
Brianna Apruzzese has lived in Massachusetts her whole life. She graduated from Endicott College with a Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management and a concentration in Event Management. From witnessing endless family functions starting at a young age, Brianna knew the hospitality industry is where she would end up. She has love for and experience in the entertainment industry, which is what makes City Winery a perfect spot for her. Brianna can be found bouncing around the state, either at Gillette for the Pats or spending an afternoon with her family members. span>
Anthony JamesExecutive ChefChef Anthony James was born and raised in the military, finding his love of fine cuisine through his world travels from Germany to Korea and beyond. Following culinary school at Newbury College, Anthony moved to New Orleans and ran a bistro for 12 years, specializing in Southern American food. He then worked in restaurants and wineries in New York and California, serving a very high profile clientele, before returning to Boston to work at a number of gourmet restaurants and catering companies, joining the City Winery team in 2019. He favors Southern cuisine, local fresh ingredients, and Bar-B-Q like you’ve never had it.
Michael Bishop Program DirectorMichael grew up in New England with a passion for the art of music and food. He pursued his love of culinary and became a Sous Chef early in his career. Eventually he realized he wanted to wear jeans and a black hoodie to work everyday so he quickly changed gears and pursued a career in music. Michael graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Music Industry. He’s worked at venues throughout Boston and Philadelphia booking local talent and upcoming artists. Michael is excited to be working at City Winery, being able to book talent in both the Main Concert Venue and Haymarket Lounge. Fun fact: his favorite holiday is April Fool’s Day and had the opportunity to tour internationally while he was managing a band.
Mia Marchese Box Office ManagerMia is a Boston resident who specializes in concert operations and music education. An alum of the Franklin School for Performing Arts and graduate of Berklee College of Music, Mia’s life mission is to share and inspire the world of music with others. While completing her B.A. at Berklee, Mia delved into Boston’s Music Scene and began booking and promoting talent across Boston venues. While in college she also managed various bands and even founded her own Music Journal. She completed her college internship studying Venue Management at the established Middle East Nightclub. Upon completion of her B.A., Mia was selected to be Director of Bach to Rock Music School and launched the new Boston music school. In addition to Directing, Mia taught various programs at B2R and later transitioned to teaching at Needham School of Music. After joining the ranks of venue servers at City Winery Boston in 2018, Mia fell in love with the company and migrated into the Concert Ops team. She then assumed position as Box Office Manager in 2019.
Thomas Fallon Service DirectorTom began his hospitality career with Omni Hotels after graduating with a degree in Business Administration. After growing through the ranks at the Omni New Haven property, Tom moved to Boston in search of new challenges for his career. Drawn to the unique concept of City Winery, his love for music, and desire to learn more about the world of wine he joined the team as Venue Director in September of 2018. Tom works to refine his delivery of aggressive hospitality on a daily basis and always strives to make a difference in those he leads and the organization he dedicates his service to. In his spare time Tom enjoys watching and playing sports, experiencing all types of food and beverage, and spending time with family and friends.
Thomas Speranza Operations ManagerThomas is a native Bay Stater and hospitality industry lifer. A graduate of Bridgewater State College, he has received 3 certificates in the wine studies program at Boston University. Thomas enjoys cooking, fine wine, reading Stephen King, historical documentaries, and hanging out with Magnus, his Maine Coon cat.
Beth Wittenstein Marketing ManagerBeth Wittenstein’s career in Boston has revolved around food and wine, which is fitting as her greatest joy is traveling to experience the world’s cultures and cuisines. Beth accepted every odd job related to food while completing a Master in Gastronomy at Boston University, from interning at America’s Test Kitchen to working as a cheesemonger, chocolate buyer, and eventual online media manager at Formaggio Kitchen. She most recently led the marketing department at Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, helping students discover and follow their culinary dreams. Beth joins the City Winery team with a deep love of travel, food, wine, and music. In her spare time, you can find her experimenting in the kitchen, plotting her next adventure, or volunteering with Youth Enrichment Services (YES), teaching Boston youth how to ski.
Anita Pesa Business ManagerAnita graduated from Suffolk University, Boston, in 2017 with degrees in Communications and Marketing. She grew up in New Hampshire, where her love for the outdoors began. During school, she would travel home to the mountains every chance she had to hike. Anita also worked in the hospitality industry through college. With restaurant exposure and the culture Boston provides- her love for food grew. She avidly explores new and old restaurants in Boston in her free time. Anita started at City Winery Boston in 2019, and is now the locations Business Manager.
Richard JacobWinemakerBorn and raised in Medford, MA, Richard is a true and extremely proud Bostonian. After spending 4 years studying Sustainable Agriculture at the University of New Hampshire, Richard’s calling to the world of winemaking was made. He decided to spend a year in Burgundy, France, where he worked for the Domaine Roulot in Meursault and Maison Champy in Beaune. While in Europe, Richard completed WSET Levels 1 & 2 in London. After coming back from Europe at the end of 2017, Richard began working as the Assistant Winemaker at City Winery Boston. Since then, Richard has worked with over a dozen varietals from all over the United States as well as Argentina. He could not be more proud to be a winemaker in his home city. In his spare time, Richard enjoys listening to 80’s hard rock, playing baseball, and cooking/pairing wines with his fiancée. Go Sox!.
Andrea Bergner Beverage DirectorHailing from Massachusetts, Andrea has an extensive background in hospitality in addition to having a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology and a minor in Voice. What started out as a survival job to support her acting and music career became a passion for the restaurant and wine industry. She eventually took her work from land to sea, joining Entertainment Cruises New York and then in Boston. In addition to shaping new products and services, she made her mark by continuously improving quality, cost, and guest experiences. She was named National Restaurant Manager of the Year by EC in 2011. In October of 2018, Andrea completed the CMS Level 2 Certified Exam and is now a Certified Sommelier. Andrea is excited to be part of the City Winery team, where she finally gets to blend her love of music and wine on a daily basis. In her spare time she loves spending time with her family, singing, playing the piano, and just enjoying the quiet moments.
Sophia Berardinelli Graphic DesignerSophia graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from Emmanuel College. A Boston native, Sophia loves going to her usual spots in the city as well as finding new places to explore. She has been working in the food industry since sixteen, designing wedding cakes and serving in Boston restaurants while completing her degree. She has a strong passion for design and illustration and loves creating art in her free time.
Ashlee Daggett Operations ManagerAshlee Daggett is a Boston native with passions in music, art, food, and wine. Coming to City Winery Boston with her ten year background in hospitality and food service she’s ready to the urban wine scene by storm. Everything from bartending to planning large events Ashlee has seen the full scope of the restaurant world. Bring her hats and positive attitude to a team of artists who are determined to bring music, wine, and food to the same table.
Mike D'Angelo Concert ManagerMike D'Angelo comes to City Winery with a background as a producer, performer, and illustrator. With a background in fine art, theater, and punk rock. He is well known in the Boston art's scene as the producer and creator of a long standing production that he hosts, produces, art directs, writes, and also designs for. He's been known to not only star in his own show, but to wrangle a full cast of actors, a swinging band, and a team of dancers- at venues all over the Boston area. He is thrilled to bring his experience as a performer and producer to the City Winery venue. Mike is a high energy guy who is excited to showcase his brand of hospitality to artists from all over the world. Mike's passion lies in helping to facilitate show stopping productions and he loves working with both artists and crew to make a show the best it can be. When he's not making things run behind the scenes at City Winery, or hosting his 70's style game show in his full polyester glory, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and their dogs. He hopes that visiting and local artists join him at City Winery, where he's proud to offer the utmost hospitality for performers.
Adam ParshallMarketing CoordinatorA native of the suburbs surrounding Washington, DC, Adam has lived and worked in the Boston music community for the better part of the last decade. A graduate of Boston College, he began covering local and national acts for publications such as Allston Pudding, the Boston College Gavel, Vanyaland, and others, before diving into marketing, photography, and promoting. Since 2013, he has worked in content management, digital media, community and field marketing, and freelance photography and tour management.
