Sauvignon Blanc’s origins lie in Bordeaux, where it was generally blended with Sémillon, but it is now widely planted and made in varietal styles in the Loire valley and the New World, notably New Zealand. In cooler climates and poorer soils it gives wines with classic herbaceous notes while warmer regions produce less aromatic and more fruit-driven examples.
