This wine is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendocino County, 7% Petit Verdot from Lake County and 5 % Cabernet Franc from Mendocino County . The Mendocino County appellation is part of the large North Coast AVA that spreads northward from San Francisco Bay. The Lake County lies along the spine of the Mayacamas Mountains, the most distinctive geographical feature of the six county North Coast wine-growing regions.

The wine making process includes twenty-one day fermentation in tank with pumping over twice a day and pressed. The wine is then blended back into free-run wine. Full malolactic fermentation. Gravity pumped into a combination of two-year-old Seguin Moreau and Ermitage barrels and one-year-old Taransaud barrels, then aged for 15 months.

The wine has a ruby color and aroma of dark fruit and violets with a touch of brown tobacco. The mouthfeel is smooth with a rich mid-body framed by gentle tannin but good grip on the finish. Flavors of caramel and a touch of black pepper in the finish.
