This is our Fall 2026 Deep Cuts list, featuring artists performing between August and October who deserve a spot on your calendar. Some you'll recognize immediately. Others are about to become new favorites.
The Sauce Boss
Friday, August 7 at 8:00 pm, City Winery Philadelphia
Bill Wharton has spent decades earning the nickname Sauce Boss, and the shorthand is more literal than it sounds: he cooks gumbo onstage while he plays. Jimmy Buffett wrote "I Will Play for Gumbo" about him, and Wharton's own anthem "Let the Big Dog Eat" made it onto Buffett's Late Night Menu at the Margaritaville Cafe. It's the kind of lineage that tells you everything about the night ahead without a single adjective doing the work.
Jimmie Herrod featuring Andy Ezrin

This is Jimmie Herrod's first time on our Philadelphia stage. He won a Golden Buzzer on America's Got Talent, played Angel in the symphonic staging of Rent at the Kennedy Center, and has toured the world as a vocalist for Pink Martini. This show is built around songs and stories rather than a set list, with reworked Sondheim standards alongside covers he's chosen himself. A voice this well traveled deserves a room this attentive.
Leon and The Peoples

Leon fronts a reggae-soul outfit out of New York, but the name might land first from the screen. He's the actor from Cool Runnings, The Temptations, and Amazon's Emmy-winning Swarm. That parallel career shows up in how he holds a stage. Presence isn't something you can fake, and Leon has been building his for a long time in front of cameras before he ever picked up a mic in a room like ours.
An Evening with Brandon Victor Dixon
Friday, August 28 at 8:00 pm, City Winery Philadelphia
Brandon Victor Dixon is a Grammy winner with three Tony nominations, an Emmy nomination, a Telly Award, and a Global Music Award to his name, and his Broadway resume runs through Hamilton, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Hell's Kitchen. This evening pairs original material with covers built to show off the range that's carried him across those stages. Bring the wine list. This is a vocalist worth sitting with slowly.
Jackie Greene
Sunday, August 30 at 7:30 pm, City Winery Philadelphia
Jackie Greene works in Americana and roots music, equally at home behind a soulful piano ballad or a bluesy guitar solo, which is exactly the range that got him tapped as lead guitarist for The Black Crowes back in 2013. Multi-instrumentalists who can hold a room solo are rare. Greene has been doing it for years, and this is the kind of set where the songwriting and the guitar work take turns leading.
Dominique Fils-Aimé

Dominique Fils-Aimé is a two-time JUNO winner out of Montreal and one of the more distinctive voices working in vocal jazz today. Her latest record, Our Roots Run Deep, earned the 2024 JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and the Félix Award for Best Jazz Album. That's the kind of recognition that comes from sitting at the exact intersection of jazz, soul, and blues rather than choosing just one lane.
Mariachi El Bronx

The Bronx have been a hardcore band out of Los Angeles for more than twenty years. Mariachi El Bronx is their alter ego, charro suits and all, returning after a decade-long hiatus with three acclaimed albums under that name. This eight-piece has shared stages with Foo Fighters and The Killers, appeared on Letterman and NPR's Tiny Desk, and played festivals from Coachella to Glastonbury. A standing-room show is exactly the right format for a band with this much history behind two different identities.
